All these students were adults and had to actually physically engage empty handed without weapons, to protect themselves and others around them. THIS is what training here in Neo Tribe Kali is all about.

Our training here is PROVEN effective here in New York City. Not conjecture or crap sprouted by surburbanites from other states or scenic locations where violence is all sweetened up.

Most situations in life that are truly dangerous or lifethreatening involve the use of weapons. If someone is truly out to hurt you, chances are very high that he/she will use some type of weapon to impose their will upon you.

Conservatively, 90% of the martial arts training available will NOT adequately prepare anyone for dealing with such situations.

Kali is a martial art with its roots in the Phillipines. Kali is a martial art that teaches students how to use and protect themselves against weapons such as Knives, Sticks/Clubs, Flexible weapons and emptyhand skills are developed as well.

Neo Tribe Kali is the name of the Kali system that is currently being taught by Guro Jeff Chung. Guro Jeff has been studying the Filipino martial arts very intensively for over 15 years. He is credentialed as an instructor in several different systems of Filipino martial arts, and all together, Guro Jeff has been training for more than 36 years and has experience in fighting arts from all parts of the world. Neo Tribe refers to the fact that this teaching is from his own personal outgrowth and expression of his understanding of the Filipino Martial Arts.

Currently in our curriculums, Neo Tribe Kali focuses upon empty-hand and knifetraining skills about 90% of the time.

Training here at Neo Tribe Kali is intense and challenging. The goals of training in Kali are to develop confidence, strength of mind, and heart and will, and to develop better qualities of personal being, all of which will allow us to develop greater leadership skills and help us to make better decisions in all aspects of our lives.

What types of students are the Best type of students for Neo Tribe Kali? We seek those people who would be 'Leaders' amongst men and women, people who understand how to work in a group positively and constructively, and when and if the need should arise, people who know how to step up and take charge. Neo Tribe Kali doesn't train people to follow blindly. Rather, we teach people how to think for themselves, yet work with others for a greater overall good. Guro Jeff has been training in the martial arts since 1971, and teaching since 1976. He has established a tradition of excellence in teaching, and has students from all over the globe. Guro Jeff's specialty is in helping students grow, in their understanding of self-protection skills and also, in their personal development towards being able to achieve whatever goals they seek.
